Personalized announcements and wedding videos.

Monday, October 24, 2011

This is the series of ideas I came up with for my good friends Josh and Tracy. They wanted the picture as part of the announcement, and so here is how we progressed. I got excited to help them and came up like 6 different options. The pictures aren't the real picture, so I know they are a couple where it looks a little stretched. I think I have finally figured out how NOT to do that. live and learn right? And In one I completely cut off tracy's mouth. But remember I was working from the only picture I had until I go the engagement pics. Maybe I should have gone back and added a different pic, but...i didn't.

The final one! As you can see I combined a couple of ones they liked and their own personalized invite was created! I think they were happy about it. But aren't they so cute?!

Early designs--Molly's wedding

My sister wanted simple elegant announcements. She chose this one but ended up doing in black rather then silver.
This was a pretty rough draft--as you can tell from the not so formed hearts and the fake coupe information. Never finished it because Molly went with a different one.

another version of the first one. I thought it might be too much on both sides, but ended up liking it more then I thought I would.

I thought they needed color. They didn't.  I thought this could be one that is fun in lots of different colors. I don't know. It was a pretty basic one, not to exciting.
I will hopefully have a chance to do more announcements without pictures--I love the freedom of having the whole page to work with.  However, as the next few post will show, I have done more with pictures. They are a different challenge on their own.

Introduction

My family has always accused me of being the artistic one of the family. I did some drawing and worked with pastel chalks when I was younger--like 12 to 16 or so. But I always felt that my efforts were mediocre at best. Of course, my family never would say anything like that--they were much to kind and supporting. When I didn't progress to the point of being excellent (probably for lack of time) it kind of faded in to a past hobby. And I stopped thinking about myself as "creative". I started developing other interests and anything with art, other then my college art history classes, went so far back on the shelf that you couldn't see it through the amount of dust covering it.  Fast forward to senior year of college. I worked on a class magazine that started me back on my creative path. I had to help put together and design a magazine. This required a little bit of graphic design, and with the help of a roommate, I kind of had a crash course in the basics. So, just be warned. I am by no means a professional. I have just been doing invitations for friends. I am trying to learn new things, So this is the start. I want feed back on my designs.  And if any of my friends out there want my designs--I'd be happy to work with you!! I have done wedding announcements, but could easily branch in to birth, graduation, or whatever the occasion might require. I also have been doing some wedding type videos that will be posted as well! Please give me feedback! What works, what doesn't. Thanks!
